Holy Thursday 升天节
'Twas on a holy Thursday, their innocent faces clean, 在升天节里孩子们洗干净了天真的脸蛋
The children walking two and two, in red, and blue, and green: 他们一对对走着穿着红的蓝的绿的衣衫
Grey-headed beadles walked before, with wands as white as snow, 白发的教区助理拿着雪白的拐杖向前行
Till into the high dome 1 of Paul's they like Thames waters flow. 像泰晤士河的水流进了圣保罗的圆屋顶
O what a multitude they seemed, these flowers of London town! 啊这儿一大群人他们像是伦敦城的鲜花
Seated in companies they sit, with radiance all their own. 他们并坐在一起各个的面容都神釆焕发
The hum of multitudes was there, but multitudes of lambs, 这一大堆嗡嗡之声不过是一群群小羊羔
Thousands of little boys and girls raising their innocent hands. 千万个男孩和女孩把天真的手举得高高
Now like a mighty 2 wind they raise to heaven the voice of song, 这时像一阵大风骤起他们歌声飞上天空
Or like harmonious 3 thunderings the seats of heaven among: 又像是和谐的雷鸣使天庭的众交椅震动
Beneath them sit the aged 4 men, wise guardians 5 of the poor. 坐在下方的长者是穷苦人的贤明保护人
Then cherish pity, lest you drive an angel from your door. 那么施以怜悯吧免得你把天使逐出大门
1 dome
