'Father, father, where are you going? 父亲、父亲，你往哪儿去？
O do not walk so fast! 啊，别走得这么快呀。
Speak, father, speak to your little boy, 说话呀，父亲，跟你孩子说话呀
Or else I shall be lost.' 要不我就要迷路啦，
The night was dark, no father was there, 黝黑的夜晚找不到父亲，
The child was wet with dew; 孩子被露水淋得湿透。
The mire 1 was deep, and the child did weep, 泥沼又深，孩子在呜咽
And away the vapour flew. 雾气向四处飘游。
