   兵势篇 NO.6:


  故善战者,求之于势,不责于人,故能择人而任势。
  任势者,其战人也,如转木石。
  木石之性,安则静,危则动,方则止,圆则行。
  故善战人之势,如转圆石于千仞之山者,势也。
  这句啥意思:
  所以,善战者追求形成有利的“势”,而不是苛求士兵,因而能选择人才去适应和利用已形成的“势”。
  善于创造有利“势”的将领,指挥部队作战就象转动木头和石头。
  木石的性情是处于平坦地势上就静止不动,处于陡峭的斜坡上就滚动,方形容易静止,圆形容易滚动。所以,
  善于指挥打仗的人所造就的“势”,就象让圆石从极高极陡的山上滚下来一样,来势凶猛。这就是所谓的“势”。
  英文这么说:
  The clever combatant looks to the effect of combined energy, and does not require too much from individuals.Hence his ability to pick out the right men and utilize 1 combined energy.
  When he utilizes 2 combined energy, his fighting men become as it were like unto rolling logs or stones.
  For it is the nature of a log or stone to remain motionless on level ground, and to move when on a slope;if four-cornered, to come to a standstill, but if round-shaped, to go rolling down.
  Thus the energy developed by good fighting men is as the momentum 3 of a round stone rolled down a mountain thousands of feet in height. So much on the subject of energy.
  《“任势”思想》
  要想以小的代价获得胜利,要想比较容易地战胜自己的对手,就必须“任势”,就必须借助各种有利的外部条件,就必须首先形成有利的战场态势之后用兵决战。同样的力量,放在不同的地方,产生的效果不一样,如把木石放在平稳的地方或陡险的地方,所产生的“势能”或“动能”就不一样。同样的力量,构成的形状不同,产生的效果也会不一样,如“方形”和“圆形”的运动效果就不一样。所以,高明的将帅轻而易举地战胜对手,并不是一味地把自己的力量拼到极限,而是通过改变自己力量的位置和形状,即通过力量的战场部署和作战编成,造成有利的战场态势,就像将圆石从万丈高山推滚下来那样,形成排山倒海般的力量,最后战而胜之。
