This is AP news minute. 


1. At least seven people are dead after a tour bus and semi-truck crashed on early Sunday on a freeway near Palm Spring, California. The California highway patrol says at least 30 others were injured. There was no word yet on what causes the crash. 


2. Defense 1 secretary Ash Carter visited northern Iraq for a closer assessment 2 of the fight against the Islamic state group. He met with Kurdish leaders whose forces have launched a new offensive in the operation to wrest 3 Mosul from the militants 4, and with U.S service members who are not far from the battle. 


3. With just over two weeks to go before Election Day, the presidential candidates are pushing their messages in the battleground states. Hillary Clinton spent the day in North Carolina. Donald Trump 5 was campaigning in must-win Florida. His camp's acknowledging he is trailing in the race, but insists he still has a viable 6 path to win the White House. 


4. And it has been day following a long-night as celebration for Chicago cubs 7 fans who are heading for the world series for the first time in 71 years.
