"How to say this in English?" "I want to learn new vocabularies." 这些我们平时常用的说法,其实都是错的! 今天,我们总结最典型的口语错误,告诉你错在哪儿, 并分享正确说法。

关键词:
错误一:打招呼
厌倦了"Hello", "How are you", 想换个新的方法打招呼?
“Hey guys!"
这个说法很自然、很口语。但是注意,跟一个人打招呼的时候,千万不能用!
“Hey guys” is a very natural and colloquial 1 way to greet a group of people: “Hey guys”很地道也很随意,可以用于跟一群人打招呼
Guys能指代男性和女性吗?
As long as there’s one guy, then you can call the whole group “guys”: 只要一群人里面有至少一个男的,你就可以称这群人为“guys”
“Hey guy” doesn‘t work in most English-speaking countries: "Hey guy"这个说法在大多数英语国家都不被接受(虽然Adam说在加拿大听人用过,但小编建议大家还是不要使用)
Don’t say “Hi man” or “Hello man”: “Hi man”或“Hello man”是不地道的英语表达
正确的说法是:
“Hey man“
那“Hey girl"呢?
“Hey girl” is a pick-up line: “Hey girl”是搭讪时候用的
To girls, you can say “good morning” or “good evening” depending on what time of day it is: 根据时间不同,你可以用“good morning”或“good evening”跟女生打招呼
“Hey woman/women” is a big No: 千万不要说“Hey woman/women”
“Hi girls” is acceptable: 跟一群女性打招呼可以用“Hi girls”
错误二:“How to say this in English?”
学习英语的过程中经常要向老外请较某一个东西在英语里怎么说, 你是不是习惯问:
How to say this in English?
注意,这个说法缺了主语,是不符合英语语法的。
正确的说法:
How should/can/do I say … in English?
错误三:问句的语序
中国人最常犯的口语错误
大家觉得下面这句话有错误吗?
乍一看真没什么问题,但其实错误在于这个句子是个indirect question (间接疑问句)。
使用间接疑问句时,应该把动词和宾语的位置换一下
The verb and the object switch places in indirect questions: 直接疑问句变间接疑问句,动词和宾语要换位置
word order: 语顺,词序
对比一些直接疑问句和间接疑问句:
Where is the kitchen?: 厨房在哪?(直接疑问句)
Do you know where the kitchen is?: 你知道厨房在哪吗?(间接疑问句)
What is this?: 这是什么?(直接疑问句)
Do you know what this is?: 你知道这是什么吗?(间接疑问句)
错误四:不可数单词加S
中文的名词基本不用区分单复数,所以忘记加复数是一个很常见的问题。而英语里很多名词其实是不可数名词,是不能加复数的。
singular and plural 2: 单数和复数
uncountable nouns: 不可数名词,不如water
大家对于water这样的不可数名词基本都不会加S, 可是有几个不可数名词却常出错, 比如:
Vocabulary
Knowledge
常听到有朋友说:
"I want to increase my vocabularies."
"He has a lot of knowledges."
这两个词都是不可数名词,千万别加S!
说到knowledge这个词的使用,大家也应该注意一下:
Many Chinese love to use the word “knowledge”, partly becasue the word is used more frequently in Chinese than in English : 很多朋友爱用"knowledge"这个词,因为 “知识”这个词在中文中使用的频率比英文高
But this word is used differently in English. Often we’re not talking about our own personal knowledge; we’re talking about knowledge in general: 但是这个词在英语里的使用情况很不一样。通常“knowledge”在英文里指的是”知识”这个概念,而不是一个人脑子里有多少知识
Knowledge is important: 知识非常重要
如果要说一个人很有知识,懂得很多,native speaker会用:
He knows a lot.
He's very knowledgeable 3
而不是He has a lot of knowledge
但是讲到专业知识的时候,可以用knowledge一词
He has a lot of specialized 4 knowledge: 他有很多专业知识
另外一个常犯的单复数错误是:
这个错误应该是来源于“粉丝”这个音译词。
但是注意哦,英语里说你是某人的粉丝时,要用单数!
I'm a big fan of OpenLanguage: 我是开言英语的忠实粉丝
如果是一个人以上,才能用"fans":
We're all fans of the show: 我们都是节目的粉丝
错误五:混淆company和office
"My company is very far."
"I'm going to the company now."
混淆实体和抽象词的错误也很普遍,尤其是在“公司”这个词的使用中。
英语里,实体、抽象词有明显的区分。比如“公司”一词对在英语里,在谈到概念、运作等抽象概念时要用company;而说到具体办公地点时,则应该用office。
Do not confuse an abstract concept with an actual location: 不要混淆抽象概念跟实体
正确的说法:
I’m going to the office now: 我现在要去公司
The office is far from my home: 我公司离家很远
I work for a big company: 我在一家大公司工作
My office is very big: 我的办公室很大
