感谢上帝
A 4-year-old boy was asked to return thanks before Thanksgiving dinner. The family members bowed their heads in expectation.
感恩节时，一个4岁的小男孩要做餐前感恩祈祷。全家人低着头，期待着。
He began his prayer, thanking the Lord for all his friends, naming them one by one.
他开始祷告，他代朋友们对上帝感恩，并挨个提到他们的名字。
Then he thanked the Lord for Mommy, Daddy, brother, sister, Grandma, Grandpa, and all his anuts and uncles.
然后，他代妈妈、爸爸、兄弟姐妹、爷爷、奶奶，还有所有的叔叔、阿姨对上帝感恩。
Then he began to thank the Lord for the food. He gave thanks for the turkey, the dressing 1, the fruit salad, the cranberry 2 sauce, the pies, the cakes, even the Cool Whip.
然后，他感谢上帝赐予他的食物，从火腿、火鸡料焰，到水果沙拉、橘酱，各种点心、蛋糕，甚至冰蛋奶水果，一一列举。
Then he paused, and everyone waited--and waited.
然后，他停了下来，大家都等着听他继续，等啊等。
After a long silence, the young fellow looked up at his mother and asked, "If I thank the Lord for the broccoli 3, won't He know that I'm lying?"
好久之后，小伙子抬起头看着妈妈问道：“如果我感谢上帝赐予我花椰菜，上帝会不会知道我在说谎？”
重点讲解：
1. thank sb. for sth.
向…表示谢意；感谢；
eg. I thanked them for their long and loyal service.

2. one by one
逐个地；依次地；
eg. We went into the room one by one.

eg. One by one the houses burst into flames.
房子一幢接一幢地燃起熊熊大火。
3. give thanks
感谢（上帝）；感恩；
eg. We give thanks for this food.
感谢上帝赐给我们食物。
eg. Go down on yow knees and give thanks for your safety.
你跪下祈祷，感谢上帝保佑你平安无事。
n.(食物)调料；包扎伤口的用品，敷料
- Don't spend such a lot of time in dressing yourself.别花那么多时间来打扮自己。
- The children enjoy dressing up in mother's old clothes.孩子们喜欢穿上妈妈旧时的衣服玩。

- Turkey reminds me of cranberry sauce.火鸡让我想起梅果酱。
- Actually I prefer canned cranberry sauce.事实上我更喜欢罐装的梅果酱。
