   Greatest Hitter in the World


  世界上最棒的击球手
  A little boy strutted 1 through the backyard, wearing his baseball cap and toting a ball and bat.
  一个小男孩戴着棒球帽、背着棒球和球棒在后院里昂首阔步地走过。
  "I'm the greatest hitter in the world," he announced.
  “我是世界上最棒的击球手,”他宣布说。
  Then, he tossed the ball into the air, swung at it, and missed.

  "Strike One!" he yelled.

  Undaunted, he picked up the ball and said again, "I'm the greatest hitter in the world!"

  He tossed the ball into the air. When it came down he swung again and missed.

  "Strike Two!"

  The boy then paused a moment to examine his bat and ball carefully.

  He spit on his hands and rubbed them together.

  He straightened his cap and said once more, "I'm the greatest hitter in the world!"

  Again he tossed the ball up in the air and swung at it. He missed.

  "Strike Three!"

  "Wow!" he exclaimed. "I'm the greatest PITCHER 2 in the world!"

  3. rub together
  相互摩擦;揉搓;
  eg. He rubbed his hands together a few times.
  他搓了几下手。
  eg. When you wash your hands you rub them together with soap.
  你洗手的时候,用肥皂搓两只手。

  • The players strutted and posed for the cameras. 运动员昂首阔步,摆好姿势让记者拍照。
  • Peacocks strutted on the lawn. 孔雀在草坪上神气活现地走来走去。
