年初的社交平台里到处都是立起的flag，立下flag总是既让人兴奋又让人害怕。今天Jenny和Spencer和你分享英语怎么说“立flag”。
Red flag
虽然英语中没有“立flag”的说法，但有另一个和flag有关的表达：
“red flag”: a flag used as a sign of danger. 警示红旗，用来表示危险警告。
The talk about raising taxes was a red flag to many voters.很多选民十分警惕提高税收的言论。
立flag
中文里我们说新年“立flag”其实表示给自己立下目标：
To make or set goals
once a goal has been set, you have to meet or attain 1 it: 一旦立下目标，就必须达成
不仅可以“set goals”也可以“set mind”：
Set your mind to something: 下决心做某事
但立目标可千万不要说成：
Raise flag ❌
新年目标
如果是新年立下的目标，英语中还有一个特别的说法：
To make a New Year’s resolution
Resolution: 决心
basically 2 a big decision to solve something: 重大的决定去解决某个问题
make a change for the better: 为变得更好做出改变
也可以把这个词用在其它具体的方面：
Make style/ learning/ exercise resolution: 在时尚/学习/锻炼方面立目标，下决心
坚持
但目标不仅仅是用来“set”，还需要努力做到并且坚持下去：
Keep New Year’s resolutions: 坚持执行新年计划
Follow through your plan: 将你的计划贯彻到底
Stick to them: 坚持下去
多...少...
说到自己的目标和决心，经常会用到这样一组搭配：
Do more...Do less...: 多做…少做…
Read more, use phone less: 多看书，少用手机
Cook more, eat out less: 多自己做饭，少在外面吃

Turn over a new leaf: 字面意思是把叶子翻过来，表示翻开新的一页，改过自新
to start over: 重新开始
change one's habits: 改正习惯
become a new person/you: 做一个新的自己
Apparently 3 he's turned over a new leaf and he's not smoking any more. 显然他已经改过自新，不再抽烟了。
