It looked as if Geppetto, though far away from the shore, recognized his son, for he took off his cap and waved also.

He seemed to be trying to make everyone understand that he would come back if he were able, but the sea was so heavy that he could do nothing with his oars 1.
他竭力想让大家知道，如果他办得到的话，他会回来，可是海上风浪太大，他没法用船桨划回岸边来。
Suddenly a huge wave came and the boat disappeared. They waited and waited for it, but it was gone.
忽然一个巨大的海浪打来，船不见了。大家等了又等，可它再也不见了。
"Poor man!" said the fisher folk on the shore, whispering a prayer as they turned to go home.
“可怜的人！”聚集在岸边的渔民们说。然后他们低声祈祷着，各自回家了。
Just then a desperate cry was heard. Turning around, the fisher folk saw Pinocchio dive into the sea and heard him cry out: "I'll save him! I'll save my father!"
正在这时候，只听见一声绝望的哀叫。他们回过头来，渔民们看见皮诺乔潜进大海，嘴里叫着：“我要救他！我要救我的爸爸！”
The Marionette 2, being made of wood, floated easily along and swam like a fish in the rough water.
