    本集简介：

    Chandler wakes in the night to find Eddie watching him sleep; they argue and Eddie agrees to leave. The next day, Eddie goes on a fruit drying kick and has no recollection of their previous conversation.

    Variations of this happened day after day. Joey's pride won't let him try out for small roles, but his mounting debts (and Ross) slowly convince him otherwise. Joey makes good use of his "Word of the Day" toilet paper.

    Monica, Rachel, and Phoebe read a female empowerment book, Be Your Own Windkeeper, which has even more detrimental 1 effects on their relationships with each other than it does on their relationships with men. Joey moves back in with Chandler, which allows Chandler to take advantage of Eddie's faulty memory, and finally be rid of him.

    钱德送给乔伊“每日一好句”手纸，乔伊从中获益匪浅。莫妮卡和菲比怂恿瑞秋读一本唤醒女性独立意识的书《做自己的主人》，不想这书非但没有让她们从男女关系中挣脱出来，反而大大伤害了姐妹情。乔伊搬回和钱德同住，这样钱德终于不怕艾迪再假装失忆而赖皮不肯搬走了，他终于彻底摆脱了艾迪。

    CHANDLER: Uh-huh.

    EDDIE: I uh, I gotta tell you man, I mean, that's uh, it's kinda out of the blue, I mean don't you think?

    CHANDLER: This is not out of the blue, this is smack 2 dab 3 in the middle of the blue.

(你今天看起来很不开心，怎么了?)— She’s in holiday blue．(她得了假期郁闷症。)holiday blue 就是 winter holiday depression，特指圣诞节来临时，雪下个不停，人们待在家里百无聊赖、万般寂寞；也指因经济拮据而无力购置年货而郁郁寡欢。

    此外，blue 还指“黄色的”，“有伤风化的”意思。如：a blue film (黄色电影)；不过，黄色书刊还可以说成是“dirty books”；to make a blue joke，现在的“短信一族”动不动就发个“黄段子”，可以称之为 blue short message。作为动词，blue 是指“乱花钱”，如：He blued all his money in a single ancrnoon．(他在一下午的时间就花光了所有的钱。)此外，blue Monday 表示“不开心的星期一”；blue blood“贵族出身，贵族血统”。据说，在中国的梁朝以前，“青” (blue) 曾经也有过代表高贵之意，如“青楼”古时指显贵之家；只是梁朝以后才降格而指妓院了；once in a blue moon 则表示“千载难逢地”。

    英语中的 green 常用以表示“嫉妒，眼红”。例如：be green with envy (十分忌妒)；汉语中的“眼红的”在英语中应该是 green-eyed。倘若指医学上的“红眼病”又是 pink eyes了。不过绿色终归还是稚嫩，因此还有“缺乏经验”的一层含义：green hand 是“新手”，而 green-horn 指“新到一个地方不了解当地习惯的人”。

    中国人忌讳说“戴绿帽子”，因为那不是“ to wear a green hat” 的问题，而是“to be a cuckold” (有不贞妻子的人)。

    中国人习惯用“黄色”象征低级趣味的色情作品，而英语中这层含义已由blue 充当，所以 Yellow Pages 只是一本电话号码查号簿，只是出于保护视力才用黄色纸张印刷而成。大概是黄色比绿色还要嫩些缘故，yellow 还表示“胆小的，软弱的”：He is too yellow to stand up and fight.

    此外，yellow boy 不指“黄色的男孩”，而是“金币”；yellow dog 不是“黄色的狗”，而是“卑鄙的人”或“不参加或不协助工会的工人”。

    白色代表纯洁，所以就连 a white lie 也成了“善意的谎言”；white room指“无菌室或绝尘室”；不过，white elephant 即“白象”在英文中就是“昂贵而无用之物”的代名词了。

    而黑色总是不太好的，因此 a black sheep 就披上了“害群之马、败家子”的恶名。据说黑色的羊遭到厌弃有两个原因，一是黑羊毛不值钱，二是其他的羊见到黑羊会害怕。其他与 black 有关的词组如：black list (黑名单)；blackdog (沮丧，意气消沉)；black tea (红茶)；black coffee (不加糖或奶的浓咖啡)；a black look (恶狠狠地瞪)；in black and white (白纸黑字，书面的，印刷的)；打得浑身“青一块，紫一块的”可用 black and blue，等等。

    红色是中国的吉祥色，红色代表着火热的激情。但在英文中，in／into／out of the red 表示“有／没有亏损”；see red 表示“发怒”；red-neck 表示“乡下佬’；而 catch somebody red-handed 则表示“当场发现某人正在做坏事或犯罪’。例如：The policeman caught the thief red-handed.(警察当场抓住了小偷。)
