本集简介：

罗斯收养一只叫马赛尔的猴子。

六人达成协议，在迎接新年的派对上不带伴侣。

在Central Perk 1咖啡馆唱歌时，菲比遇到两个争吵不休的男人，

经过交锋，她和其中一个开始约会，此人名叫大卫，是个科学家。

两人关系发展顺利，可他接到科研基金，需要赴明斯克工作三年。

大卫不知所措。

派对上除了罗斯，人人都忘了约定，带了伴侣参加；

菲比带大卫，乔伊带着他在百货店遇到的单亲妈妈桑迪；

瑞秋则带来提前飞回的保路；钱德寂寞难耐邀请了珍妮丝；

莫妮卡请来fun波比（有酒就fun没酒就boring那个）；罗斯只有马赛尔作伴。

不过，午夜时分每一对都不欢而散。

故事梗概

Ross工作很忙，  可他的猴子总是跟他过不去，  给他增添了很多麻烦，  为此他很苦恼。  Chandler听到比事后后告奋勇，  替Ross照看猴子，  没想到猴子跟他相处得很融洽，  他们一起度过．了几个愉快的夜晚。  可回到Ross那儿，  猴子又变回了原样……

Chandler: Yeah, we played, we watched TV.. that juggling 2 thing is amazing.

Ross: What, uh... what juggling thing?

Chandler: With the balled-up socks? I figured you taught him that.

Ross: No.

Chandler: Y'know, it wasn't that big a deal. He just balled up socks... and a melon...

    chandler告诉Ross猴子Marcel的杂耍太棒了，而Ross对此却一无所知，于是chandler说道：You know，it wasn’t that a big a deal．He just balled up socks...and a melon．(要知道，这也不算什么。只是把袜子团成球……还耍过一个瓜……)    chandlcr在说it wasn’t that big a dcal．时稍微有点炫耀的意思。其实在通常情况下，It isn't that big a deal．的意思就是“这没什么了不起的；这不算什么”。比如：Would you let it go?You've just bought a TV，not a car．It isn’t that big a deal．(你别再说了，你只不过买了台电视而已，又不是一辆车，没什么了不起的。)

    在第l季第3集中，Chandlcr的烟瘾犯了，大家都批评他，最后Chandler忍无可忍，说：so I have a flaw 3!Big deal!(我身上有缺点了，那又怎么样!)

    Big deal!相当于我们汉语所说的“那又怎么样呢?”；“有什么大不了的!”“那有什么要紧的?”，比如：So he snores!Big dcal!Snore back!(他打鼾了，那有什么要紧的，你也打呗!)

    在口语会话中有时使用Big deal!时含有讽刺的意味，通常翻成：了不起呀!或阔气得很啊!等等。下面举两个例子让大家体会一下。

    比如，So after all the noosc the union made，they finally got us a five dollars a week raise．Big deal!(工会大嚷大叫了半天后，他们终于给我们加了薪，每周长五美元整。真是了不起呀!)再看下列对话：

  A：Did you know that your cx-girlfiend has become engaged to a millionaire?(你知道你从前的女朋友跟一位百万富翁订婚了吗?)

  B：Yeah．Big deal!Now her nose will be so high in the air she'll probably

    sufrer from oxygen starvation．(知道，真了不得啊!现在她会鼻子翘上天，好像得了缺氧病一样。)

    如果别人为冒犯了你而向你道歉，你可以用No big deal．来显示你的大度。No big dcal．是接受道歉时的回答用语，意思是“没关系；不要紧”。当然如果你用No problem．  (没事。)或That's all right．  (没关系。)或Not to worry．(别在意了。)或Forget it．(算了，别放在心上。)等等也能达到异曲同工的效果。
