第23单元 从加州到墨西哥
Frank waved goodbye to all his friends there to wish him off. He jumped on his bike and started to pedal 1. First he would pedal to the end of his block and then to the outskirt of town and then right out of the state of California.
法兰克向前来祝他好运的朋友们挥手道别。他跳上脚踏车，踩着踏板开始出发。他要先骑到街尾再骑到市郊，然后直接骑出加州市。
Frank was riding his bike all the way along the coast to Mexico. The first day of his trip was good. The weather was nice and there were few hills. In fact, his first week was good, with the exception of a flat tire and mild sunburn.
法兰克打算沿着海岸一路骑着脚踏车到墨西哥。第一天行程还算顺利，天气很棒，斜坡也不多。事实上，除了爆胎和轻微的晒伤外，第一周情况算是不错。
Halfway 2 into his second week, Frank began to feel tired. A storm was coming. There was nowhere for him to stop for miles. He kept pedaling 3 even though his legs were sore and tired. Then it began to rain a heavy, cold rain.
但是第二周过了一半时，法兰克开始觉得累了。而且出现了一场暴风雨；放眼望去，好几英里内都没有地方可以让他停下来躲避，尽管他的腿又痛又累，也只好不停地踩着脚踏车。
Frank could hardly see. His breath was getting short, his chest hurt. He had to keep going. Frank drove all through the night. By morning the storm had quit and the sun was out as Frank arrived at the Mexican border, tired and sore.
接着天空开始下起又大又冷的雨，让法拉克几乎看不到东西。他的呼吸越来越短促，胸口也开始疼痛，但仍需不断往前才行。法兰克整晚不停地骑，到了早上，暴风雨终于平息，太阳也出来了，这时全身疲累又酸痛的法兰克也骑到了墨西哥边境。
He had made it. He had biked all the way to Mexico!
他总算成功了，终于骑着脚踏车一路抵达了墨西哥！
