A ten-year-old student asked, " Teacher，would you punish me for something I didn’t do? "
"Of course not," the teacher replied.

2. "punish sb. for sth." 是指“因为某事而处罚某人”，for在此当介词，有“因为、由于”的意思，如：The teacher punished him for his absence.老师因为他缺席而处罚他。若要表不以何种方式处罚，可以用with代替for,，如：He drove through the red light so the policeman punished him with a fine.他闯了红灯，所以瞥察对他进行罚款处理。
