M: I wish my news were that good.
F: things couldn’t be going that poorly for you?
M: When is the last time you shopped at Hale store?
F: Well. I Ur… you know I don’t really shop that much.
M: unfortunately, there’re a lot of people like you.
F: your stores are not attracting customers?
M: shoppers are staying away in droves (大批成群)
Q： what ‘s Mr. Hale’s problem.
A: shoppers are staying away
Dialog 1 2:
F: you are losing customers.
M: Can you tell me why?
F: there are a lot of new competition out there.
M: You said it, the large megastores are killing 2 me.
F: but for quality, you stores can’t be beat.
M: not just for quality, our prices are competitive 3.
F: why is your customer base (生存所依靠的顾客)shrinking then?
M: that is what I want you to tell me.
Q: why is Mr. Hale taking to Ms. Tade
A:to know why he is losing customers.
Dialog 3:
Location, locate, be located, convenient
F: what about location? Is your store conveniently located?
M: we are as convenient as the store cross the street.
F: and they are pulling them in?(pull in吸引顾客)
M: like there is no tomorrow.（夸张的说法，争先恐后）
F: so if quality,price and location are equal..
M: what’s the problem?
F: could be service. How is your customer service?
M: now there, we may have a problem.
Q: what could be the problem?
A: customer service.
