彩虹的承诺
As Evan had predicted, the storm is over in less than half an hour.
正如艾凡所预测的，这场暴风雨不到半小时就结束了。
K:Oh, look, Evan! The sun is coming out again.
凯西：哦，艾凡，看！太阳又出来了。
E:Yeah. The more violent the storm, the shorter it lasts. It can rain for days without much wind or driving rain, but this kind of violent storm doesn't usually last more than an hour.
艾凡：嗯。暴风雨愈猛烈，持续的时间也愈短。老天可以没有狂风暴雨而连续下雨好几天，但是像这种猛烈的暴风雨通常不会超过一小时。
K:You were right on this one. Thank God that's over! I was really scared for a minute there.
凯西：这次你说对了。感谢上帝，暴风雨结束了。有那么一下子我真吓坏了。
E:More like 20 minutes.
艾凡：好象有二十分钟之久吧。
K:All right!
凯西：就算是吧！
E:Just kidding. I was scared, too, for a while. But I knew we'd be all right.
艾凡：只是开个玩笑。有一阵子，我也很害怕。但是我知道我们会没事的。
K:Oh, look, Evan! There's a rainbow!
凯西：哦，艾凡，看！有一道彩虹！
E:Remember the story from the Bible 1 about the rainbow? After the great flood that destroyed the world, God made the rainbow as a promise to Noah that He would never flood the world again.
艾凡：记得圣经里那则关于彩虹的故事吗？在那场毁灭全世界的大洪水后，上帝创造出一道彩虹当作对诺亚的承诺说衪将不会再淹没全世界。
K:Yes, I remember. It's a beautiful story.
凯西：是的，我记得。那是一则美丽的故事。
E:And a beautiful rainbow. Come on, Kathy. Let's get back to the car and change our soaked 2 clothes.
艾凡：还有美丽的彩虹。凯西，快点。咱们回车上去换掉这身湿衣服吧。
