地道表达：be on the level with sb.
1. 解词释义
Level这个词语有几个意思，在这里可以理解为“水平面”，因此，on the level就可以说是“在说平面上”，即可以清清楚楚看见的。如果我们说一个人on the level，那意思就是说这个人很直率，坦诚，诚实，没有骗人你可以相信他的话。对话中“I expect you to be on the level with me.”的意思就是“我希望你能坦诚对我。”
