　　他划到那里后，一边用手掩着鼻子，一边哗哗叫道——"Bouton - de - Rose，喂！你们这些个Bouton - de - Rose，可有人会讲英国话嘛？"
　　Yes, rejoined a Guernsey-man from the bulwarks 1, who turned out to be the chief-mate.
　　有，舷墙边有一个革恩齐（革恩齐——英国海峡中一个小岛。）人回答道，原来他就是大副。
　　Well, then, my Bouton-de-Rose-bud, have you seen the White Whale?
　　好呀，那么，我的玫瑰蕊呀，你们可看到白鲸么？
　　What whale?
　　什么鲸？
　　"The White Whale—a Sperm 2 Whale—Moby Dick, have ye seen him?
　　"白鲸——抹香鲸——莫比－迪克，你们可看到它吗？"
　　"Never heard of such a whale. Cachalot Blanche! White Whale—no."
　　"听也没有听到过这种鲸。Cachalot Blanche！（法文：白鲸。）白鲸——没有。"
　　"Very good, then; good bye now, and I'll call again in a minute."
　　"那么，好吧，再见啦，等会儿我再来拜望。"
　　Then rapidly pulling back towards the Pequod, and seeing Ahab leaning over the quarter-deck rail awaiting his report, he moulded his two hands into a trumpet 3 and shouted—"No, Sir! No!" Upon which Ahab retired 4, and Stubb returned to the Frenchman.

　　I wish it was broken, or that I didn't have any nose at all! answered the Guernsey-man, who did not seem to relish 6 the job he was at very much. "But what are you holding yours for?"
　　我才巴不得它撞破了，或者根本没有这鼻子倒痛快些，那个革恩齐人回答道，看上去他对这个差使并不很感兴趣。"可是，你为什么也捂着鼻子呢？"
　　Oh, nothing! It's a wax nose; I have to hold it on. Fine day, ain't it? Air rather gardenny, I should say; throw us a bunch of posies, will ye, Bouton-de-Rose?
　　啊，没有什么！这是只蜡鼻子；我得把它捂住才行。今天天气很好呀，不是吗？有点象在花园里的味儿，我敢说；给我们丢下一束花来好不好，玫瑰蕊？
