In bed we concocted 1 our plans for the morrow. 我们在床上盘算我们明天的计划。

that instead of our going together among the whaling-fleet in harbor, and in concert selecting our craft; 我们不要一起到码头上那些捕鲸船队中去,不要一起去挑选船只;
instead of this, I say, Yojo earnestly enjoined 3 that the selection of the ship should rest wholly with me, inasmuch as Yojo purposed befriending us; 反之,约约却热心地吩咐:挑选船只的事必须完全由我去办,因为约约有意要帮助我们;
and, in order to do so, had already pitched upon a vessel 4, which, if left to myself, 而且,为了帮助我们,约约已经连船都给我们挑好了,那只船,
I, Ishmael, should infallibly light upon, for all the world as though it had turned out by chance; 如果听我以实玛利自己决定的话,我也一定会发现的,完全象是偶然出现似的;
and in that vessel I must immediately ship myself, for the present irrespective of Queequeg. 而且我一定会暂时不顾魁魁格,立刻上去做水手。
I have forgotten to mention that, in many things, Queequeg placed great confidence in the excellence 5 of Yojo's judgment 6 and surprising forecast of things; 我忘记说明一下,魁魁格有许多事情是非常相信约约那卓越的判断和惊人的预示的;
and cherished Yojo with considerable esteem 7, as a rather good sort of god, who perhaps meant well enough upon the whole, 他对约约怀有极大的尊敬,把它当做一种很有本事的神,这个神,也许一般说来存心十分良善,
but in all cases did not succeed in his benevolent 8 designs. 不过,他那仁慈的意图也不是回回都应验的。
Now, this plan of Queequeg's or rather Yojo's, touching 9 the selection of our craft; 且说这个魁魁格的。也可说是约约的有关挑船的计划,我根本就不喜欢。
I did not like that plan at all. I had not a little relied on Queequeg's sagacity to point out the whaler best fitted to carry us and our fortunes securely. 我倒很想靠魁魁格的聪明去指出一只最适宜于我们搭乘又稳叫我们发财的捕鲸船。
But as all my remonstrances 10 produced no effect upon Queequeg, I was obliged to acquiesce 11; 但是,既然随我怎样规劝都无法使魁魁格回心转意,我只得应承下来;
and accordingly prepared to set about this business with a determined 12 rushing sort of energy and vigor 13, that should quickly settle that trifling 14 little affair. 因而以一种黾勉从事,赶紧去办的决心来着手进行,以便迅速了结这桩小事。
