1. 解词释义
Foot the bill的字面意思是“踩着账单，赶快开溜”，比喻为“结账，付账，买单”的意思。
早在15世纪，人们开始用foot the bill表示把所有的账目加起来后算出总金额，然后写在账单的底部（foot of bill or account），foot相当于button，在这时候跟消费者无关。但是到了19世纪，则与消费者有关了，表示“付账，买单”的意思，一直沿用至今。
