第4单元 安娜的秘密
 
Anna has been a successful businessperson all of her adult life and is the owner of several profitablecompanies.Even though she is so successful, Anna has kept a secret from all except her husband. She can't read.
 
安娜长大后,一直是一个成功的实业家,拥有几家获利的公司。虽然她是这么的成功,安娜有一个只有她丈夫才晓得的秘密,那就是她不识字。
 
She hides her secret by spending her days pretending to be too busy to take care of things like work contracts and the mail. Tired, she comes home at night and asks her husband to help her sort through the day's paperwork. Not being able to read has made life difficult. Anna knew that for her to be the best she could be, she needed to confront her problem and learn to read.
 
她每天假装很忙没有时间处理合约和回信一类的事务,来隐瞒这个秘密。。晚上回家后,她疲倦地拜托丈夫帮她整理一天下来的文书工作。不识字让生活变得很困难,安娜知道自己要想成为人上人,就必须面对困难,学习识字。
 
She told her closest friends and employees that she was illiterate 1. Fearing she would be ridiculed 2, she was surprised and comforted when she received nothing but support. Anna found a tutor and began her studies. With hard work and determination, she learned to read.
 
她告诉最亲密的朋友和员工她是文盲,害怕会被嘲笑,但令她惊讶与欣慰的是,没人这样做,大家都很支持她。安娜找了个家教,开始学习,凭着努力和决心,她学会识字。
 
She recently received an award given to small businesses that have triumphed over adversity. More than just a successful businesswoman, Anna is also a mentor 3 for people who struggle with illiteracy 4!
 
她最近获得一项颁给在逆境中成功小型企业奖。安娜不仅是成功的实业家,也是许多想摆脱文盲的人的精神象征。
