小高：是呀！你今年春节有什么计划呢？
Oh, the usual.I’m gonna go home and spend a week with my folks.And you?

I’m going to San Francisco,California! There’s gonna bea Chinese New Year Parade on March 7th thisyear!

Wait, did I hear you correctly? Did you just say that you’re going tothe United States toattend a Chinese New Year parade? I didn’t know American’s celebrated 1 Chinese NewYear!
京晶：等等，我听错了吗？你说你要去美国参加中国新年的游行庆祝？我真不知道原来美国人民也要庆祝中国新年呀！
That’s right! The San Francisco Chinese New Year celebration originated in the1860’s during the Gold Rush period. Now, it’s the largest Asian event inNorth America as well as the largest general market event in NorthernCalifornia. The celebration includes two major fairs: the Chinese New YearFlower Fair and the Chinatown Community Street Fair.
小高：没错！旧金山的中国农历新年大巡游早在1860年代的淘金时代就开始了。现在已经是北美地区最大的亚洲盛事，也是北加州地区最大的盛事哦，这场盛大的庆祝呢包括两大市集：中国农历新年花会，和中国社区群街会。
Oh my gosh! That’s outof this world! Soyou mean this parade is world-renowned?
京晶：我的天，那还真是挺棒的，你是说这活动早已世界闻名了吗？
That’s right! It’s beennamed one of the world’s top ten parades. Some of the parade highlights include elaborately decorated floats, school marching bands, martial 2 arts groups, stilt 3 walkers, liondancers, and the newly crowned Miss Chinatown USA.
小高：没错啊！旧金山的农历新年大巡游还被誉为世界十大巡游之一呢。其中的亮点包括：精美制作的花车方阵，学生乐队方阵，中华武术方阵，踩高跷方阵，舞狮队方阵，还有新加冕的的“全美华埠小姐”哦！
