一个英语单词可分为三部分：前缀（prefix）词根（root）后缀（suffix）。位于词根前面的部分就是前缀。前缀，可以改变单词的意思。
fore 1- 表示“前面，预示”
forecast = fore + cast（扔）→ 提前（把消息）扔出去→ v. 预料
forehead = fore + head（头）→ 前面的头 → n. 前额
foresee = fore + see（看）→ 提前看到 → v. 预见
foreword = fore + word（话）→ 写在前面的话 → n. 前言
ge(o)- 表示“地面的，地球的”
geography = geo + graph（写，画）+ y → 画地球的全图 → n. 地理学
geology = geo + logy（…学）→ n. 地质学
geologist 2 = geo + logist（…学家）→ n. 地质学家
geometry = geo + metry（与meter同源，表示测量）→ 测量地面 → n. 几何学
geophysics = geo + physics（物理学）→ n. 地球物理学
il-（放在同辅音词根前）表示“不，无”
illegal = il + legal（合法的）→ adj. 非法的
illiterate 3 = il + literate（识字的）→ 不识字的 → adj. 文盲的
illogical = il + logical（逻辑的）→ adj. 不合逻辑的

- Your seat is in the fore part of the aircraft.你的座位在飞机的前部。
- I have the gift of fore knowledge.我能够未卜先知。
2 geologist
n.地质学家
- The geologist found many uncovered fossils in the valley.在那山谷里，地质学家发现了许多裸露的化石。
- He was a geologist,rated by his cronies as the best in the business.他是一位地质学家，被他的老朋友们看做是这门行当中最好的一位。
3 illiterate
adj.文盲的；无知的；n.文盲
- There are still many illiterate people in our country.在我国还有许多文盲。
- I was an illiterate in the old society,but now I can read.我这个旧社会的文盲，今天也认字了。
