Two days after the explosion in Qingdao, the oil spill in Jiaozhou Bay is worse than previously 1 reported. The city's Maritime 2 Safety Administration says the oil spill has spread across an area of 10,000 square meters in the Jiaozhou Bay and remains 3 difficult to clean up.
Maritime authorities say they were only notified hours after the oil pipeline 4 explosion and missed the best opportunity to contain the pollution.
No information about the extent of damage to the local ecology and fishing industry is available at this point.
