Three sailors have died and 23 others are missing in two separate mishaps 1 off the coast of East China's Shandong province.
According to local authorities, two ships have sunk in waters around Weihai city and Yantai city. Early Monday morning, a cargo 2 ship registered in north China’s Tianjin Municipality sank near Weihai. 7 people are confirmed dead and 7 others missing from that ship.
Another ship registered in east China’s Zhejiang Province sank Sunday evening around Yantai. Three bodies have been found and nine crew members are still missing. The ship was heading to Tianjin municipality when it sank.
Rescuers are searching the area for the missing people. Strong winds and waves are said to be the cause of the sinkings.
