　　Tonino had never before eaten so many different things at one meal. 托尼诺以前从来没有吃过这么多东西。

　　First, there were olives and radishes and little sardines 1. 首先是橄榄、萝卜和小沙丁鱼。
　　Then they had stuffed tomatoes and eggplant, followed by roast veal 2 and potatoes. 接着烤牛肉和土豆吃完后又吃了西红柿和茄子。
　　For dessert the lady gave an order for ice-cream. 还要了份儿甜点——冰淇淋。
　　Of course, Tonino had never tasted any in his life. 当然，托尼诺从来没有吃过冰淇淋。
　　He thought it so delicious that he wanted to keep half to give to Nanou when he got back to Nouvilo. 他觉得冰淇淋太好吃了，所以想留一半给娜努，等回到Nouvilo拿给她。
　　He was sorry when he was told that there would be none left when he reached home. 当他得知回到家冰淇淋就化了时，他感到很遗憾。
　　But he could not help enjoying the rest of his ice-cream himself, since it was impossible to take it to Nanou. 既然冰淇淋不可能带给娜努了，他忍不住吃完剩下的冰淇淋。
　　VISITING THE FAIR 逛集市
　　After lunch they sat at the table for a long time. 午饭后，他们在桌子旁坐了很长时间。
