当我还在纽约州立大学读书的时候，有一次我想注册一门课，但听说这门课不容易对付，所以我就向一个修过这门课的美国同学打听情况，他说“I remember that was 1 an early class for me，and I always fell 2 asleep 3 during 4 the class。I was out cold。”
"Out cold？“我想，这一定是"catch cold”的意思，所以我就深表同情的说：“你又生病又能坚持上课，真不容易！”
“What？”他一脸的迷惑，我也觉得奇怪。
后来我才知道，"out cold“是打瞌睡的意思，他是说因为上课很早，所以他忍不住想睡觉，而我的理解竟相差十万八千里！
