Nick: Hi everybody, this is Nick. Welcome to teaching series "how do you say this in American English."大家好,我是Nick.
David: Hi my name is David.
Nick: 在大家平常生活中,会被帮助或者是帮助别人这种经历.这时候被帮助的人会有"欠对方一份人情"的感觉.那这个"人情"在英文中没有完全的翻译,但是英文有类似的表达,我们一起来看看美语怎么说,"我欠你一个人情".
Nick: David, can you do me a favor?
David: Sure man. What's up?
Nick: So, I know you and Maddy, you guys are good friends, right?
David: Yeah we are. We went to the same high school and I've known her since I was a little kid.
Nick: That's great! You know we kindda have a thing, no no no, I mean, not like we have a thing. I'm into her but I don't know if she's attracted to me as well.
David: So you want me to ask her if she likes you?
Nick: Yeah exactly!
David: Yeah no problem. That's just a piece of cake. I'll ask her if she's like you this weekend when we go back to our hometown.
Nick: Thanks man! Just try to ask her directly, "hey Maddy do you like Nick? Don't beat around the bush.
David: Sure man. I know what to say. You owe me one!
Nick: Sure I owe you a big one! Thank buddy 1! I'll definitely buy you a meal!
David: Sounds terrific 2!
Nick: Thanks!
Nick: 这个欠你一份人情就是我们叫做"I owe you one"或者是你可以夸张一点说, "I owe you a big one"就是欠你一份人情的意思.这里的one指代人情.其实one还有很多种用法,比如说,举个例子,我在这里不多说,带过一下.比如说have a good one在这里就是说"have a good day"的意思.你也可以说have a good day, have a good night,或者是可以省事,说have a good one.这里的one是指day or night.在"I owe you a big one"就是说,one是指人情的意思.So this is pretty much it for this time.
