时间:2019-02-18 作者:英语课 分类:CCTV9英语新闻2014年05月
China has promised lenient 1 punishments for terrorists in the far western Xinjiang region who willingly surrender to authorities.
The move comes in the wake of Thursday’s attack in Urumqi, one of the deadliest to hit the region in years. In the wake of the attack, the ministry 2 of public security announced a year-long anti-terrorist campaign, in which Xinjiang would be the main battleground.
According to local authorities, those involved in terrorist activities will be given mitigated 3 punishments if they turn themselves in within 30 days. Those who surrender and give information relating to terrorist activities will be given minor 4 punishment or will be exempted 5 from punishment.
Five terrorists were responsible for the attack in Urumqi on Thursday morning. They ploughed through a vegetable market, throwing explosives from vehicles, killing 6 39 people and wounding 94 others.
