Hop 2, hop, hop! shouted little Henry, as he was playing in a field near a wood. 小Henry在一块靠近一片森林的地方玩耍时大喊着“跳啊，跳啊，跳啊！”
Hop, hop, hop! came an echo in reply. 响起了“跳啊，跳啊，跳啊”回答的声音。
Who is there? asked Henry in surprise; for he had never heard an echo before. Henry惊奇的问道“谁在那儿？”因为之前他从未听过回声。
Who is there? replied the echo. 谁在那儿？”回声回答道。
Foolish fellow! cried Henry, at the top of his voice. 蠢货！”Henry以他最大的声音大喊道。
Foolish fellow! was the reply from the wood. 蠢货！”森林中的声音回答道。
At this Henry became very angry, and called out many ugly names. 听到这个Henry很生气，接着说出很多脏话。
The voice from the wood sent back every word. 森林中的声音又把每一个字都送了回来。
Now, when Henry could not see who was speaking from the wood, 现在，Henry看不到谁在森林中说话，
he ran home and told his father that a boy hid in the wood had called him bad names! 他就跑回家告诉爸爸森林中藏着一个小孩说他坏话。
Ah, Henry! said his father, you have heard nothing but the echo of your own words. Henry！爸爸说道，你听到的是你自己说话的回声。
The bad names came first from your own lips 3. 坏话首先来自你自己。
Had you used kind and gentle words, you would have had kind and gentle words in return. 你要是说些善良和蔼的语言，你就会听到善良和蔼的语言。
Kind words bring back kind echoes 4. 善意的语言会带来善意的回声。
