1. Former Senate Ted 1 Stevens and at least 4 others have been killed in a plane crash near a remote fishing village in Alaska. Former NASA chief Sean O'Keefe and his son were also on the plane but survived the crash.

4. A federal fishing ban has been lifted for more than 5,000 square miles in the Gulf 10 of Mexico along the Florida Panhandle. The National Oceanic Atmospheric 11 Administration says no oil has been observed in those waters since July 3rd.
