1. Friends and family are mourning the loss of Elizabeth Edwards. A friend of the family says Edwards' health rapidly deteriorated 1 over the last few weeks and that her adult daughter and estranged 2 husband John came to be with her. Edwards died Tuesday at her North Carolina home from cancer. She was 61 years old.


 


2. It is expected to be another record year for foreclosure notices. RealtyTrac says the US is on pace to see more than three million households receive some sort of foreclosure notice. That is up from last year's record of 2.8 million.


 


3. A judge in Alaska plans to hear arguments today that could decide the fate of that state's US Senate race. Republican Joe Miller 3 has asked Judge William Carey to strictly 4 enforce election law. A ruling in Miller's favor could result in thousands of challenge ballots 5 for incumbent 6 Senator Lisa Murkowski and possibly lead to a recount.


 


4. Today marks the 30th anniversary of John Lennon's death. Rolling Stone is releasing the pop star's final interview on the anniversary. Lennon talked to Rolling Stone just three days before he was gunned down outside his New York City apartment building. In the interview, Lennon slammed his critics, saying they want dead heroes, and said he's not interested in being anyone's dead hero.
