The grandfather was old and wise. So he smiled and said, "It wouldn't be the first time that luck has been found in a knife." 年长而智慧的祖父笑了笑说道，在一把刀里找到运气已经不是头一次了，
Franz did not know what his grandfather meant, for he had always had a knife. 弗朗茨不明白祖父的意思，因为他经常会使用到小刀。
The boy belonged to a wood carver's family, and had learned 2 to whittle 3 when he was just a little fellow. 他的家里是做雕刻的，弗朗茨还是个小家伙的时候就学会削木头了。
