Years went by, and the family grew larger.
Eight boys, one after the other, had worn 1 the fairy 2 shoes, but the shoes were still as good as new.
And just as the fairy had said, the feet in the fairy shoes always went where they were sent, and always came back home on time.

that his mother said, "Tim, you must wear the fairy shoes."
So the shoes were shined; and one morning Timothy put them on to wear to school.
I hope you will be a good boy, Tim, said his mother.
"You must not stop by the way or go any place except to school.
For if you do, these shoes will pinch 4 you, and you will be sure to get into trouble."
Tim's mother held him by the right arm while she told him these things,
but Tim's left arm and both his legs were already as far away as he could stretch 5 them.
It was a May morning, and the sun was shining brightly.
Tim wanted to play on this beautiful morning, when all the flowers were blooming, and the birds were singing.
