Cold weather is gripping the northern US, following Monday's snowfall. The national weather service is forecasting temperatures well below zero for a number of northern states.


More than 160 people were reported dead in the Philippines after a powerful typhoon pounded the country. The storm missed Vietnam after hundreds of thousands of people evacuated 1 from its path.


Tens of thousands of people remain without power in Puerto Rico for more than three months after hurricane Maria. The US army corps 2 of engineers says restoring power to the entire island could take until May.


And a fire tore through an antique store in northern Virginia, close to Washington, DC. Firefighters were concerned the building could collapse 3, and left just before a wall came down.
