The US Senate has followed the House, approving a stop-gap bill to keep the government running in late January. The Senate pushed over several issues into next year including an 81 billion dollar disaster relief bill for hurricane and fire victims.
The United Nations General Assembly voted overwhelmingly to denounce President Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Many of the countries voting ignored President Trump's
threat to cut off their aid.
Authorities near San Antonia, Texas say gunfire killed a 7-year-old boy, while sheriff's deputies were shooting at a female suspect. They say the woman, who was a wanted felon 1, was also shot and killed. It's unclear who shot the boy.
And Spain is holding its massive annual Christmas-time lottery 2, known as El Gordo or the Fat One. After children sing the winning numbers, the lottery gives away several billion dollars divided between numerous winners.
