【分析】复合句。直接引语中，not....but连接两个主语，谓语动词单复数遵循就近原则。
【译文】“不是选择，而是习惯支配者那些不善于思考的人们”，在19世纪，威廉·华兹华斯如是说。
【点拨】1)unreflecting意为“缺乏思考的”。2）herd 常见是“牧群，畜群”，这里指“民众。百姓”，常含贬义。
2.But brain researchers have discovered that when we consciously develop new habits ,we create parallel paths , and even entirely 1 new brain cells ,that can jump our trains of thought onto new , innovative 2 tracks.
【分析】多重复合句。句子的主干为brain researchers have discovered that…。that引导的从句作宾语，宾语从句的主干为we create parallel paths , and … new brain cells ; when引导时间状语从句。第二个that引导的定语从句修饰先行词paths，从句和先行词被插入语and… cells分开了。
