But, Lucy needs to wake up so she has a cup of regular coffee, and she puts in her coffee "a little skim milk and sugar." 不过，露西需要提神，所以她会喝一杯普通咖啡，还在咖啡里放了“一点脱脂奶和糖。”
Skim, "skim," milk is milk that doesn't have any fat in it. 脱脂（skim）奶是不含脂肪的牛奶。
You can have regular milk, two percent milk with two percent fat, one percent milk, and skim milk with no fat. 你可以喝普通牛奶，含有2%脂肪的百分之二牛奶，百分之一牛奶，或者是完全不含脂肪的脱脂奶。
She also puts in sugar, "sugar." Sugar is normally white; it has a sweet taste that it adds to food. 她还往里放了糖（sugar）。糖一般是白色的，它自身的甜味也会让食物变甜。
Lucy's "roommate usually makes a pot when she wakes up," meaning she makes a pot of coffee. 露西的室友“起来后会煮一壶咖啡”，也就是说她负责煮咖啡。
A pot, "pot," is what the coffee is put in. 壶（pot）是用来盛咖啡的。
It's like a jug 1 or a bottle; it's a container for the coffee. 它像一个坛子或者瓶子，是盛咖啡的容器。
The reason the roommate makes the pot of coffee is because "she gets up first." 室友煮咖啡是因为“她起得早。”
