Lucy says that she "put a little dishwashing detergent 1 on" a "sponge 2" to clean the dishes. 露西说她在“海绵上”“倒一点餐具洗涤剂”洗碗。
Detergent, "detergent," is another word for soap, a special kind of soap. 洗涤剂（detergent）是肥皂的另一种说法，是一种特殊肥皂。
In this case, it's soap for washing dishes, so it's dishwashing detergent -dishwashing soap - it's the same. 在这里，它是洗碗的肥皂，所以叫做餐具洗涤剂，也就是洗餐具的肥皂，都是一样的。
You can also have detergent to wash your clothes, so the special soap you use to wash your clothes in a machine would be called detergent. 还有洗衣服的洗涤剂，洗衣机里用的洗衣服的特殊肥皂也叫作洗涤剂。
Lucy puts the dishwashing detergent on a sponge. 露西把餐具洗涤剂倒在一块海绵上。
A sponge, "sponge," is a small piece of material that has holes in it and it's used for washing dishes. 海绵（sponge）是一小块布满小孔的材料，可以用来洗碗。
The water goes into the sponge, and because of these holes, the water is absorbed by the sponge, that is it stays in the sponge so it is good for cleaning. 水会进入海绵。这些小孔将水吸入海绵，并且水不会流出来，这样洗东西比较方便。
