广播学口语:一家之主
大家好，笨小孩广播学口语准时与大家相约，Andy 送上最诚挚的问候, good day, everyone !今天我们来学习的两个俚语是I have to make ends meet和She wears the trousers in the family.

我们先来看第一句俚语I have to make ends meet .End是“结尾，终点“的意思，meet, “相遇”。Make ends meet,让终点相联结，也就是使这一头和那一头能碰上，能接上，用在钱上就是“使收支相抵”。
杰克和露丝有两个孩子，而他们俩的工资都很低，赶上公司裁员，露丝失业了，他们的生活更加拮据了，邻居里德夫人对里德先生说：“Rose is out of work and they have two young children, they will find it is impossible 1 to make ends meet.（露丝失业了，他们有两个孩子，他们将无法维持生活。）”
里德先生也觉得有道理，他点点头说：“Yeah . Both of them have to work to make ends meet.（是啊，他们俩都得工作才可维持生活。）” 有没有人花钱大手大脚的呢？那可要注意收支相抵啊，不然会出现赤字的。

下面我们来看第二句话She wears the trousers in the family .Trouser是“裤子”的意思，wear the trousers, 穿裤子，在这句话里的意思是 “当家，做主 ，掌权（尤指婚姻关系）”，而且通常是对于女子而言的。She wears the trousers in the family，就是“在家里她是一家之主”。
里德先生娶了一个精明能干的妻子，可这为女士太精明能干了，以至于什么事都要经她手处理。她常对里德说：“You should know who wears the trousers in the house.（你应该清楚家里谁说了算。）”
大家都知道里德先生怕老婆，都互相议论说：“Mr. Read is henpecked by his wife 2. Mrs. Read wears the trousers in that family. （里德先生怕老婆，在家里里德夫人 是一家之主。）”
