广播学口语:变成苍蝇吧
HI!大家好. 这里是Andy老师,很高兴又在广播学口语和你见面了.今天我们要谈的是" 梦想",每个人都有自己的梦想,Andy老师的一个梦想就是－－－要变成苍蝇,不是口误, 确实是那种让人恶心的苍蝇.但是这是为什么呢.让我们先来看今天我们要讲的故事.

＂I bent 1 over backwards 2 to please her.＂这就是我们今天要学的第一个句子.＂ bent over backwards＂是这句话关键的部分.这是什么意思呢?如果想不出来,就自己试 试呀.＂bent＂＂弯曲＂.＂backwards＂＂向后＂.那么后仰的感觉是什么样子的呢.很 费力吧.所以引申的意思是:＂努力,竭力＂的意思.＂I bent over backwards to please her.＂是说＂极力讨好她＂的意思.
上次Andy公司来了一位新经理, Although we bent over backwards in front of her, our new manager was still very critical of our work.(尽管我们竭力讨好新来的经理,可她 依然对我们的工作百般挑剔).遇到这样一个上司真不走运呀.
一不小心Andy就把工作上的不如意带到了家里去了.差一点就引发了一场内战呀.妻子最 后抱怨:I bent over backwards to be a good wife, but you haven’t ever thought of me! (我努力去作一个好妻子,可是你从来没有考虑过我的感受.) 幸亏Andy的认错态度好,于是所有的不快就烟消云散了.

Andy说:"I wish I could be a fly on the wall.变成一只呆在墙的上苍蝇,在西游记 中,孙悟空不是变成了一只苍蝇飞进了铁扇公主的肚子里了吗,那么Andy想变成苍蝇是为 了作什么呢?注意这里＂a fly on the wall＂还有＂隐蔽的或不引起注意的观察者＂的 意思.
Andy的工作很出色,可是新经理仍旧对他百般挑剔,不知道她对Andy的印象怎么样呢 .Andy said I wish I could be a fly on the wall when she talks about my future.(Andy说在她说我前途的时候,我真恨不得能偷偷旁观).
当Andy讲到这里时,正在看节目的小张恍然大悟:"I also want to be a fly on the wall when Lily talks about me. Because I love her and I bent over backwards to please her, but I don’t know what’s her attitude."(我也希望能偷听到丽对我是怎么样的一个态度.因为我爱她,我讨好她,可始终不知道她是什么态度).

不过,毕竟我们没有孙大圣的本领,还是用努力来换取硕果吧.
