2. take in and incorporate as one's own; absorb
The letter "n" in the prefix 3 "in" is often assimilated with the following letter. For example, "in" plus 
"legible" becomes "illegible 4".
前缀in中的n常被下一个字母同化。例如,in加上legible就变成了illegible。
