Organic growth was supplemented by the acquisition of other trading companies in related product areas including Union Merchants Overseas in 1968, Fox Roy Merchants and R. Verney in 1972 and J. C. Duffus in 1978. During the 1980's separate trading identities were created. An increasing involvement in fruit juices led to the formation of Fuerst Day Lawson Citrus and was followed by moves into generic 1 pharmaceuticals 2, food additives 3 and honey.
