3、The newly described languages were often so strikingly different from the well studied languages of Europe and Southeast Asia that some scholars even accused Boas and Sapir of fabricating their data.
【分析】复合句。本句是一个带有结果状语从句的系表结构。主干为 The…languages were often so …different…that...that引导结果状语从句，整个句子构成so...that…“如此…以至于”结构。the well studied languages of Europe and Southeast Asia 作介词 from 的宾语。 翻译时整个句子顺译。
【点拨】1、strikingly different可以保留原文词性，译为“如此显著地不同于”，也可以转换词性，译为“区别如此显著”。2、accuse sb. o￡ sth. “指责/谴责某人做了某事”。3、fabricate“捏造，伪造，虚构”。
【译文】这些新近被描绘的语言与已经得到充分研究的欧洲和东南亚地区的语言差别往往如此显著，以至于有些学者甚至指责博厄斯和萨皮尔编造了材料。

【点拨】 so much so that “达到这样的程度以至于”，翻译时much可与前面其所修饰的different结合，译为“差异之大（以至于）”。
