【分析】复合句。句子主干为Whorf developed the idea… 后跟that引导的同位语从句，对idea加以解释。同位语从句的翻译可以加冒号分译处理，也可以译为idea 的定语。Being interested in...为现在分词短语作原因状语,可以加上逻辑主语Whorf，译为主谓句，但后面需 要加上表示因果关系的连词表明和主句的关系，如“因此”，“因而”，“所以”等。
【点拨】1、句中develop与idea搭配,是“形成，得出”的意思，不可译为“发展”。2、habitual thought“习惯性思维”。
