This is AP News Minute.

Hundreds of thousands of women and supporters took to the streets in the nation’s capital and cities around the world to decry 1 President Donald Trump 2. The turnout in Washington was so big that crowds packed the entire march route, preventing organizers from leading a formal track toward the White House.

President Trump opened his first full day in office at a national prayer service at the Washington National Cathedral, giving his join by First Lady Melanie Trump and Vice 3 President Mike Pence and his wife. The morning service was an interfaith tradition for new presidents, hosted by the Episcopal parish.

President Trump’s defense 4 secretary James Mattis arrived to the Pentagon for his first visit on Saturday. Mattis was sworn in to office Friday night after being confirmed by the senate earlier in the day.

Rescue workers dug through the wreckage 5 of avalanche-destroyed hotel in central Italy, searching for survivors 6 among 23 missing people. Nine survivors and five bodies have been pulled from the rubble 7 so far.
