This magnificent ancient capital was built 3000 years ago by the Egyptianpharaoh Ramesses the Great, but long ago the it disappeared. When finallyrediscovered by early archaeologists, it opened up a bizarre puzzle -because when Piramesse was finally found, it was in the wrong place -somewhere Ramesses the Great could not possibly have built itOf all the wonders of ancient Egypt, Ramesses the Great's capital- the cityof Pi-Ramesse, was one of the most spectacular.

Avast citadel 2 of white and azure 3, Pi-Ramesse was filled with monumentsdesigned to inspire awe 4 in all who entered.

The city was one of Ramesses's most ambitious creations built on the Nile asa gateway 5 between ancient Egypt and the sea. This was a thriving port, a hubof the ancient world.
