Chilean President Michelle Bachelet has delivered the state of the nation address before Congress, speaking about her proposed reforms in education, energy, taxes and the constitution. Bachelet’s speech on Wednesday lasted for more than two hours.
Bachelet acknowledged that the challenges facing the nation "go beyond the tasks of a single government". She said that the fundamental reforms will bring about a structural 1 change to all levels of education in Chile. Bachelet on Monday announced a reform package for the education sector 2 which will expand free education, create more universities and give increased funding for kindergarten.
