【分析】并列多重复合句。and连接两个并列分句。第一个分句是个简单的主系表结构;第二个分句主干为many say... ,后接省略引导词that的宾语从句，其主干为they remain optimistic about …，even as 引导让步状语从句。
【译文】消费者们似乎只是稍有忧虑，并不恐慌，而且许多人表示即使在他们削减开支的时候，对经济的长远发展还是很乐观的。
【点拨】1) panicked “受到惊吓的，惊慌的”。2 ) belt-tightening既可作名词“强制性节约”，也可作形容词“节约的，节省开支的”。
