Do you know that some people are very busy while the rest of us are asleep? 你知道有些人在我们休息的时候还在忙碌吗？
As you read this story, think of what would happen if everyone took a holiday at the same time. 读这则故事的时候，想想如果所有人都同时放假了会发生什么事情？
One winter day Jack 1 came running home from school with his books under his arm, 冬天里的一天杰夫胳膊下面夹着书从学校跑回家，
"Tomorrow is a holiday, Mother, "he shouted, "I don't have to get up early and go to school. I can sleep late and play all day long." 妈妈，明天放假，他大声说道，我不用早起上学了，我可以睡到很晚才起床，还可以玩上一整天。
Jack went to bed that night thinking of his holiday. 那天晚上，杰夫上床后一直在想着假期。
Soon he was fast asleep. 很快他便睡着了。
After a long time the old clock in the town hall struck one. 过了很长一段时间，市政大厅的古老时钟响了。
It was dark, except for a few stars in the night sky, and it was very cold. 已经凌晨一点钟了，四周一片漆黑，只能看到夜空中的几颗星星，天气很冷。
Most of the people in the town were asleep. 小镇上绝大多数的人都在睡觉。
As the clock struck one, the baker 2 woke up and went down to the kitchen. 当凌晨一点的钟声响起时，面包师醒来，他走下楼梯来到厨房。
It was time to light the fire for his baking. 该到他生火烤面包的时候了。
Two! struck the clock in the town hall. 两点钟，市政大厅的钟声响起。
As the clock struck, the baker washed his hands and put on his clean, white apron 3. 钟敲响的时候，面包师洗了洗手，戴上了干净的白色围裙。
