1. Arkansas executed two prison inmates 1 Monday night, convicted killer 2 Jack 3 Jones and Marcel Williams received lethal 4 injections, about three hours apart. It was the first double execution in the United States since back in 2000.
2. Republicans and republicans in congress are trying to reach a budget deal to keep the government from shutting down at the end of the week. President Trump 5 boasted the effort by backing off his demand for funds for a wall on the U.S- Mexico border.
3. North Korea has marked the anniversary of the founding of its military. Ceremonies included soldiers and citizens, weaving flowers at the statues of the country's last two rulers.
4. And heavy rain is causing floods in several southeastern states. Some vehicles got stuck in the deep water, covering Charleston, South Carolina streets.
